## Who it’s for

- You are learning to skate or starting amateur hockey and are looking for your first skates of your own.
- You skate recreationally on ice rinks and prefer your own, fitted skates to rental ones.
- Your foot is of standard width — the model comes only in the Regular version.

## When to choose something else

- You have a clearly wide or narrow foot — the AS-550 does not come in widths other than Regular.
- You play regularly and want to replace the blades — here the blade is fixed permanently; see other [hockey skates](https://bogdanca.pl/en/ice-skates/hockey).

## Key features

- **3D Injected Boot** — A shell moulded in one piece keeps its shape and gives lateral support when you push off.
- **Core of hardness 115** — According to the manufacturer it ensures confident energy transfer and stability — the boot doesn't collapse at the ankle when you push off.
- **HD Microfiber lining** — Abrasion-resistant, so it doesn't wear through quickly at the heel and around the ankles.
- **5 mm felt tongue with foam** — Anatomically profiled; protective foam shields the instep from the pressure of the laces.
- **CCM Speedblade blade** — Stainless steel, raised profile. The blade is integrated with the holder and cannot be replaced.
- **CCM Footbed insole** — Supports the arch of the foot, which reduces fatigue on longer skates.

## Choosing your size

CCM has its own sizing, e.g. size 7 is EU 42 and a 26.0 cm foot, and size 12 is EU 48 and a 30.2 cm foot. The skate number is about one and a half smaller than the US shoe size (CCM 7 = US 8.5), so choose by foot length in centimetres, not by the number.

Measure your foot: heel against a wall, a sheet of paper on the floor, a mark at the end of the longest toe. Use the longer foot and compare it with the length given for each size.

The model comes only in Regular width.

## Questions and answers

### Are the CCM Tacks AS-550 suitable for beginners?

Yes. This is a starter model for learning to skate and recreational hockey — it gives stability and ankle support from your first time on the ice.

### Are the skates sharpened at the factory?

No. Every new pair needs a first sharpening before going on the ice. You can add the service to your order: [ice skate sharpening](https://bogdanca.pl/en/ice-skate-sharpening.html).

### Are the blades replaceable?

No. The stainless steel blade is fixed permanently in the CCM Speedblade holder. A blunt blade is sharpened, not replaced.

### Are there wide or narrow versions?

No. The AS-550 is available only in the standard Regular width.

### How do I choose the size of CCM skates?

By foot length in centimetres. For example, CCM 8 is EU 43 and a 26.8 cm foot, and CCM 10 is EU 45.5 and a 28.5 cm foot.
