## Who it’s for

- You are learning to skate or go to the ice rink for pleasure and care about warmth and comfort.
- You are looking for figure skates for a child — sizes marked JR are junior sizes.
- You want boots that don't need breaking in: the upper is soft and flexible from the first time you put it on.

## When to choose something else

- You train jumps — Support Rating 20 means a soft upper for recreation, not for sporting loads.
- You have a clearly wide foot — the model comes in one width only, Medium.

## Key features

- **Support Rating 20** — Low stiffness on the Riedell scale: the boot is flexible and comfortable, and the ankle moves freely while you learn the basics.
- **Plush lining and rolled collar** — The inside keeps the warmth in, and the softly rolled edge of the upper doesn't dig into your calf.
- **Split tongue** — It sits on the instep and doesn't shift to the side while you skate.
- **Moisture-resistant synthetic upper** — Satin-matte finish; it doesn't soak up snow and water on the ice.
- **PVC sole** — Light, water-resistant and maintenance-free.
- **Riedell Spiral blade** — Stainless steel with a straight-cut toe pick that helps with guiding the skate, starts and stops.

## Choosing your size

Riedell has its own sizing: size 5 is EU 36–37 and a 23.0 cm foot, and sizes marked JR are junior sizes (1 JR is EU 31–32 and a 19.8 cm foot). Choose by foot length in centimetres, not by the number.

To measure: put a sheet of paper against a wall, rest your heel against the wall, mark the end of the longest toe and measure the distance from the edge of the sheet.

If the result falls between sizes, choose the larger one. The Horizon sizing is close-fitting but comfortable; standard width (Medium).

## Questions and answers

### Are the Riedell Horizon good for beginners?

Yes. This is a model for learning and recreational skating — soft, warm and comfortable, made for your first seasons.

### Do they need sharpening before skating?

Yes. New skates need a first sharpening. You can add the service to your order: [ice skate sharpening](https://bogdanca.pl/en/ice-skate-sharpening.html).

### Do they have a plush lining inside?

Yes. The inside is lined with a soft, plush material that keeps the warmth in.

### Are they stiff like sports skates?

No. Support Rating 20 is low stiffness — the boot is flexible and comfortable, but not suitable for training jumps.

### How do I read sizes 1 JR, 5 or 10?

That is Riedell numbering. For example, 1 JR is a 19.8 cm foot, 2 JR — 20.8 cm, 5 — 23.0 cm, 10 — 27.1 cm, 11 — 27.9 cm. For each size we also give the EU number.
