In brief

The FR Skates Speed Axle one-piece aluminium axle 35.5 mm in silver is an aluminium wheel axle 35.5 mm long. It is a single part that passes through the wheel and screws into a thread in the wall of the frame. With axles the length is crucial, so before ordering measure your old axle and compare the thread too.

Who it’s for

You are replacing a lost or damaged one-piece axle 35.5 mm long.
You want to replace steel axles with lighter aluminium ones of the same length and thread.

When to choose something else

Your old axle has a different length than 35.5 mm — one that is too long sticks out beyond the frame, one that is too short will not engage the thread over its full length; see other axles and spacers.
Your frame has two-piece axles, screwed together from two halves — this axle does not fit it.

Key features

One-piece construction: One part instead of two screwed halves: it passes through the wheel and screws into the frame thread, so when you change wheels there are no small parts left to lose.
Length 35.5 mm: This is the dimension you compare with your old axle. A difference of even a millimetre decides whether the axle screws in to its full depth and does not stick out of the frame.
Aluminium: Lighter than steel, but a thread in aluminium needs tightening with care.

Care and servicing

When changing wheels, clean sand out of the thread and tighten the axle with care — an aluminium thread is easier to strip than a steel one.
