Who it’s for

Your top buckle has cracked or the teeth on the strap have worn down and the fastener no longer holds the cuff.
You skate a lot — around town, freestyle or aggressive — and want a metal latch instead of a plastic one.
You have skates with old, riveted buckles and want to switch to a screw-on fastener that you can later replace without drilling.

When to choose something else

The damaged buckle is on the instep (diagonal, 45°), not on the cuff — this set will not replace it; see the other buckles and fasteners.
You prefer a plastic buckle with a lock button — the FR Safety Top Buckles black have one.

Key features

Metal latch: Metal withstands falls and hard tightening better than plastic, so the buckle lasts longer in intensive riding.
Double mounting washers: The fixing of the strap and the catch sits more securely in the cuff and carries the forces acting on the fastener while riding better.
Bevelled buckle end: The lever is easier to grip with your fingers when fastening and unfastening.
Screw fitting: You screw the set on rather than rivet it. After drilling out the old rivets, it also replaces buckles that are fixed permanently at the factory.
Set for the left and right skate: You replace both fasteners at once, so both cuffs hold the same way.

After the first few rides, check that the screws fixing the strap and the catch have not worked loose, and tighten them if needed.

Which strap length should I choose?

180 mm for skates in sizes EU 34–37, 200 mm for EU 38–42, 220 mm for EU 43–47. To be sure, measure the strap you have on your skates now.

Is one set enough for both skates?

Yes. The set contains two straps with buckles and two catches — for the left and right skate — plus screws with washers.

Do the FK2 buckles fit skates from brands other than FR?

On many, yes — the set is screw-on, so it also works as a repair part beyond FR Skates skates. If you are not sure, come with your skates to our shop in Poznań or Wrocław and hold the set up against the cuff.

Can they replace riveted buckles?

Yes. The old rivets need to be drilled out, and the new set fitted with the screws from the kit.

How do the FK2 differ from the FR Metal Top Buckle?

In the double mounting washers and a more bevelled buckle end. Both sets have a metal latch and a strap about 21 mm wide.
