Who it’s for

  • You have new skates — the factory blade has no working hollow and needs a first sharpening.
  • Your skates slide sideways, “run away” on curves or don't grip when braking.
  • You play hockey or train and want a specific hollow depth or blade profile.

Key features

ProSharp machines
The automatic pass of the wheel gives a repeatable hollow along the whole length of the blade. Our technicians were trained by an authorised ProSharp dealer.
A hollow matched to you
If you don't specify a depth, we will choose it according to your approximate weight and the type of skates. A shallower hollow means more glide, a deeper one a stronger edge grip.
Z channel
An extra flat channel at the bottom of the hollow: the skate goes faster, and the edges grip as with a deeper grind.
Blade profiling
The Zuperior, Quad and Ellipse profiles change the shape of the blade lengthwise — for manoeuvrability, acceleration or stability. We profile in Poznań and by post — in Wrocław we only sharpen.
Check after sharpening
Every pair is checked for edge evenness and symmetry.

Care and servicing

After skating, dry the blades with a cloth and store your skates in fabric guards. Rubber guards are only for walking from the changing room to the ice — they hold moisture and the blade rusts in them.

Questions and answers

Do new skates need sharpening?

Yes. The factory blade has no working hollow, so the edges don't grip the ice. The first sharpening is necessary before going on the ice.

How often should skates be sharpened?

For recreational skating, on average every 10 hours on the ice. Competitive players sharpen every day or two. The sign is the edges sliding on curves and when braking.

How does sharpening by post work?

You order the service in the shop, pack your skates and send them to our service. After sharpening we send them back via InPost. The label bought from us covers size C (up to 41 × 38 × 64 cm and 25 kg), so the skates will fit in the box.

Which hollow depth should I choose?

The most commonly chosen hollow is 1/2" or 5/8". Lighter people and beginners usually prefer a deeper one (e.g. 3/8"–1/2"), heavier people and those looking for speed a shallower one (5/8"–3/4"). If you have no preference, leave the choice to the technician and enter your weight in the order notes.

Does sharpening damage the blade?

No, if it is done by machine. The wheel removes a micro-layer of steel, which does not noticeably shorten the life of the blade.

Can I sharpen my skates myself?

We advise against it. The hollow must be symmetrical to hundredths of a millimetre — home attempts with a file or whetstone usually end in a ruined blade.
