In brief

MPC Black Magic 100 mm XX-Firm wheels are eight in a harder compound than the X-Firm variant: about 88A against about 86A. They have two layers of Dual Density polyurethane, a light composite core and a weight of about 150 g per wheel. Intended for marathons, long-distance races and intensive speed training.

Who it’s for

  • You skate fast on smooth asphalt or on a track and are looking for wheels with low energy loss on rebound.
  • You are preparing for a marathon or a long-distance race and need a set for long distances.
  • You are replacing worn wheels on skates with a frame for 100 mm wheels and prefer a harder compound of about 88A at the cost of a little grip.

When to choose something else

  • The frame of your skates does not take 100 mm wheels — check the largest permitted diameter and browse skate wheels.
  • You are looking for wheels for slalom or the skatepark — Black Magic were made for fast skating on asphalt and tracks.

Key features

Dual Density
The outer layer of polyurethane gives grip, even on wet asphalt, while the inner one dampens vibration and improves comfort.
XX-Firm hardness
The hard compound causes minimal energy losses on every rebound, so it is easier to skate fast without excessive effort.
Ultra High-Rebound polyurethane
It is abrasion-resistant and dynamic, so the wheels keep their properties for a long time in intensive skating.
Light composite core
It combines low weight with strength and increases stability at high speeds.
100 mm diameter
It lets you reach high speeds with low rolling resistance, which is why it is the size for marathons and long training sessions.

Care and servicing

Every so often, swap the wheels around, because they wear mainly on the inner edge. Replace worn wheels as a whole set so that the skate rolls evenly.

Questions and answers

Are 8 wheels enough for a pair of skates?

Yes, if your skates have four wheels each (2 × 4). For frames with three or five wheels, count separately: you need 6 or 10 wheels.

Will these wheels fit my skates?

Yes, if the frame of your skates takes 100 mm wheels. Check the largest permitted diameter in your skates’ specifications, and if in doubt, come with them to our shop in Poznań or Wrocław.

How does XX-Firm differ from X-Firm?

XX-Firm is about 88A, and X-Firm about 86A. Higher hardness means smaller energy losses on rebound, and lower gives slightly more grip. Both variants have Dual Density and a composite core.

Can you match spacers to these wheels?

Yes, as part of the separate service of measuring wheel cores and matching spacers. We measure the wheel core, match the spacers and fit them into the set.

How does the 100 mm version differ from the 110 mm one?

A 100 mm wheel weighs about 150 g, and a 110 mm one about 160 g. The larger wheel rolls further after push-off, but needs a frame that takes such large wheels.
