In brief

Rollerblade Crossfire Rocker Axle eccentric axles are four two-piece steel axles (axle + bolt), 8 mm in diameter and 30 mm long. The axle is offset from the centre, so after turning it by 180° the wheel rises by a few millimetres. That is how you change the setup from flat to rockered (“banana”) for slalom without swapping to smaller wheels.

Who it’s for

  • You skate on Rollerblade Crossfire and want to try slalom or tighter turns in town without buying new wheels.
  • You are learning slalom and want to switch between a stable flat setup and a manoeuvrable rockered one in a few minutes.
  • You are replacing worn axles in the Crossfire and prefer a version that gives two wheel setups straight away.

When to choose something else

  • Stability matters most to you when skating fast on long routes — there a flat setup on ordinary axles works better.
  • You have skates other than the Crossfire — this set is intended for their frame; you will find other axles in the category spacers and axles.

Key features

Eccentric axle
The centre of the axle is offset, so the height of the wheel depends on how you turn the bolt — one part gives two setups.
Arrow on the bolt head
Arrow down: wheel lower, all four touch the ground (flat). Arrow up: wheel higher by a few millimetres (rockered).
Rockering without changing wheels
With the first and last wheel raised, the contact patch with the ground gets shorter, so the skate turns more easily on the spot and between cones.
Steel
A steel axle withstands the lateral loads of slalom and frequent changes of setup.

Care and servicing

After each change of setup check that the arrows on all the axles point the same way and that the bolts are tight — both skates should have an identical setup.

Questions and answers

How do I change the wheels from a flat setup to a rockered one?

Loosen the bolt, turn the axle by 180° so that the arrow on the head points up, and tighten. An arrow pointing down means the flat setup.

How many eccentric axles do I need for a pair of skates?
  1. You get rockering by raising the first and last wheel, so in each skate you change two axles.
Do I have to buy smaller wheels for the rockered setup?

No. The eccentric axle changes the height of the wheel in the frame, so you set up the rockering on the wheels you already have.

Which skates do these axles fit?

The Rollerblade Crossfire and the frame used in them. With another model compare the diameter (8 mm) and length (30 mm) with your old axle, or bring the skate to our shop in Poznań or Wrocław.
