In brief

The Stelior 8 mm aluminium axle is a one-piece wheel axle in aerospace 7000-series aluminium, sold individually. It has a single thread by which it screws into the frame, and it is operated with a single 4 mm Allen key. You choose a length of 34, 35 or 36 mm when ordering so that the axle engages the thread over its full length and does not stick out.

Who it’s for

  • You have a frame with one-piece 8 mm axles and want to replace a worn or lost axle without buying a whole set.
  • You skate speed, marathon or freeskate on an aluminium frame and want lighter axles than steel ones.
  • Two-piece axles work loose while you ride, and your frame has a thread for a one-piece axle.

When to choose something else

  • Your frame has no thread in its wall and uses two-piece axles (axle + bolt) — then you need a set for your model, e.g. Rollerblade 2.0 Alu Frames.

Key features

One-piece construction
One thread and one key: changing wheels goes faster, and the axle works loose less often than an axle + bolt set.
7000-series aluminium
A light alloy of high strength, resistant to abrasion and heavy loads — used in parts for speed and competition skates.
Three lengths to choose from
You choose the axle to suit the thickness of the frame so that the thread works over its full length and the end of the axle does not stick out beyond the frame.
Aluminium in aluminium
In an aluminium frame you do not join steel with aluminium, so there is no risk of galvanic corrosion at the contact.
4 mm Allen key
The most common key on skates and scooters — you do not need a special tool.

Care and servicing

Screw the axle in by hand until it stops, and only then tighten it with the key — an aluminium thread is easy to strip. Check the tightness at every wheel rotation.

Questions and answers

How many axles do I need for a pair of skates?

8 for four-wheel skates, one per wheel; 6 for three-wheel ones. The axle is sold individually.

Which length should I choose: 34, 35 or 36 mm?

The same as the axle you have in the frame now. It should engage the thread over its full length and not stick out beyond the frame; if you are not sure, bring the frame to our shop in Poznań or Wrocław.

How does a one-piece axle differ from a two-piece one?

It has a single thread and screws straight into the frame, so you fit it with one key. A two-piece one has an additional bolt — fitting takes longer, and the connection works loose more easily.

Does it fit skates of any brand?

Yes, if the frame has 8 mm axles with a thread for a one-piece axle — including in Rollerblade, FR Skates, Seba, Powerslide, K2, Oxelo, USD and Flying Eagle skates and in speed and freeskate frames.

Will an aluminium axle withstand speed skating and marathons?

Yes. 7000-series alloy has high resistance to abrasion and heavy loads, and low weight is an advantage in speed and competition skates.
