Who it’s for

  • You skate freestyle slalom and need wheels that respond precisely to quick changes of direction.
  • You train on a smooth, hard surface and want a compound that slides well and lasts a long time.
  • You have four-wheel inline skates on 76 mm wheels and are replacing the whole set on both skates at once.

When to choose something else

  • You mostly skate on rough asphalt and paving stones – the very hard X-Firm compound is designed for smooth and hard surfaces.
  • Your frame is for 80 mm wheels – take the Junk Freestyle MPC 80 mm.

Key features

Pigment-free MPC Magic Urethane™ polyurethane
The natural, colourless compound is meant to give better performance and slower wear – hence the clear look of the wheels.
Two-layer construction
The wheel consists of two layers of polyurethane, not a single casting, which combines resilience with tread resistance to abrasion.
X-Firm hardness
On the manufacturer’s scale it is a very hard compound, around 83–85A: it slides well and lasts a long time on smooth, hard surfaces.
76 mm diameter
A smaller wheel is manoeuvrable and reacts quickly to a change of direction, which counts between the cones.
Made in the USA
The wheels are made entirely in Rhode Island, at the MPC plant, which specialises in professional skate wheels.

Care and servicing

The wheels wear mainly on the inner edge. From time to time swap their positions and turn them round so that they wear evenly.

Questions and answers

What skating are these wheels for?

For freestyle slalom and urban skating – where precision, speed and control when changing direction count.

Is X-Firm the same as 85A?

Similar, but not identical. X-Firm is the manufacturer’s designation for a very hard compound, roughly 83–85A, intended for smooth and hard surfaces.

What spacers and bearings should I choose?

Precision spacers of 10.00–10.10 mm and bearings of ABEC 9 class or higher – this combination is recommended for the best rolling smoothness. In the shop we can measure the cores and select spacers as part of the “Skate wheel core measurement and spacer selection” service.

Are 8 wheels enough for a pair of skates?

Yes, if you have four-wheel inline skates. 8 pieces make a set for a pair – four wheels per skate.

How do they differ from other FR wheels?

In construction and material. They have a two-layer construction made of MPC Magic Urethane™ polyurethane and contain no pigments, which is meant to improve performance and reduce wear.
