In brief

FR Junk Freestyle MPC 80 mm X-Firm skate wheels are a set of 8 clear wheels with an elliptical profile, made in Rhode Island from natural pigment-free polyurethane. The harder outer layer provides abrasion resistance, the soft inner one resilience, and the iHub5 hub is integrated with the tyre. Intended for intermediate and advanced skaters in freestyle slalom, urban skating and freeride.

Who it’s for

  • You skate freestyle slalom and want wheels with a hard, abrasion-resistant outer layer and a soft, resilient inner layer.
  • You skate on hard, even asphalt, in a skatepark or in a hall and are looking for strong grip.
  • You skate around town or freeride and want to replace the whole pair of four-wheel inline skates with a fresh set of 8 wheels.

When to choose something else

  • You mostly skate on wet or rough surfaces – the hard X-Firm compound works best on dry, hard and even surfaces.
  • Your frame takes 76 mm at most – choose smaller skate wheels.

Key features

Pigment-free MPC Magic Urethane™ polyurethane
The natural, undyed compound is meant to give better slide, less wear and a longer life – hence the clear colour.
Two layers of polyurethane
The outer one is harder and abrasion-resistant, the inner one soft and resilient, so the wheel combines durability with grip.
iHub5 hub integrated with the tyre
The low, light hub is part of the wheel, so the polyurethane will not come unstuck from the core.
Elliptical profile
A smaller contact patch with the ground reduces rolling resistance, and the wheel enters a turn well.
X-Firm hardness
The manufacturer’s scale, in which X-Firm is around 83–85A. It gives high grip, best on hard, dry surfaces.

Care and servicing

The wheels wear mainly on the inner edge. From time to time swap their positions and turn them round so that they wear evenly.

Questions and answers

What are these wheels for?

For freestyle slalom, dynamic urban skating and freeride. They work best on hard, even surfaces: asphalt, in a skatepark and in a hall.

Is X-Firm the same as 85A?

Similar, but not identical. The manufacturer uses its own hardness scale, in which X-Firm corresponds to roughly 83–85A. It is a very hard compound, best on dry, hard surfaces.

Why are the wheels clear?

Because the polyurethane is natural, without pigments. The absence of dyes is meant to give better slide, less wear and a longer life.

Which spacers should I choose?

For optimal rolling, 10.00–10.10 mm spacers fit. In the shop we can measure the wheel cores and select spacers as part of the “Skate wheel core measurement and spacer selection” service.

Are 8 wheels enough for a pair of skates?

Yes, if you have four-wheel inline skates. 8 pieces make a set for a pair – four wheels per skate.
