In brief

Impala Lightspeed Sahara sand are recreational skates with a hard plastic shell, thick soft lining and a composite frame that can be set to rockering. They roll on 70 mm / 84A wheels and ABEC 7 bearings. A heel brake and two Allen keys are in the set. For beginners and for people who skate calmly, for pleasure.

Who it’s for

  • You are learning to skate and need skates that hold the ankle steadily and do not pick up speed too easily.
  • You skate recreationally — in the park, on boulevards and paths — at a calm pace.
  • You are looking for a gift for someone who wants to start: the skates are complete, with a brake and keys in the box, and the sand colour is subdued.

When to choose something else

  • You want to skate fast and over long distances — 70 mm wheels roll more slowly than bigger ones; look for models on 80 mm wheels and larger among the fitness and recreational skates.

Key features

Hard shell and thick lining
The plastic shell stabilises the ankle, and the soft, anatomically profiled padding limits chafing — at the start of learning the foot has secure support.
70 mm / 84A wheels
Small wheels lower the centre of gravity, so it is easier to find your balance and master braking. The 84A hardness grips the surface well and softens small bumps.
Composite frame with a rockering option
The light frame absorbs vibration from the surface. The wheels can be set in a rockered layout — the skate then turns more easily, at the cost of stability on the straight.
ABEC 7 bearings
The wheels turn quietly and with little resistance, which is entirely enough for calm, longer rides.
Ready to skate straight away
The boot does not need breaking in. A heel brake and two Allen keys are in the box, so you can make small adjustments yourself.
Retro Sahara colour
A sandy, calm shade and a style that echoes skates of the 1980s and 1990s — for someone who does not like loud colours.

Choosing your size

Lightspeed sizes are described with EU numbering and a length in millimetres. Measure your foot: stand with your heel against a wall, mark the end of the longest toe and measure the distance in mm. Compare the result with the value in mm for the size; if your feet differ in length, go by the longer one.

If you are on the border between two sizes or have a wide foot, try the skates on in our shop in Poznań or Wrocław.

Measure your foot in millimetres (heel against the wall, to the tip of your longest toe) and choose an insole equal to that length or 2–5 mm longer. Full measuring guide

Care and servicing

From time to time swap the wheels around, because they wear unevenly. After changing the wheel setting (rockering), check that all the axles are tight.

Questions and answers

Are the Impala Lightspeed suitable for a beginner?

Yes. The hard shell stabilises the ankle, and the small 70 mm wheels make it easier to keep your balance. A brake is in the set.

Is the brake included?

Yes. In the box there is a heel brake and two Allen keys for adjustment. The brake is optional — you can skate with it or without it.

What does rockering give me?

More manoeuvrability. In the rockered layout the middle wheels are slightly lower than the outer ones, so the skate turns more easily, but is less stable on the straight. While you are learning, leave the wheels in one line.

Aren't 70 mm wheels too small?

Not for learning and recreational skating. Small wheels give stability and easy braking, although on long routes they roll more slowly than 80 mm and bigger ones.

Can I return the skates if the size does not fit?

Yes, you have 14 days to withdraw from the contract; the buyer covers the return shipping. Exchanging for another size means a return and a new order.
