In brief

The blue Rollerblade Apex XC are adjustable kids' skates for freestyle slalom and urban skating. The hard, ventilated shell expands across four sizes within the chosen range (e.g. EU 29–32 or EU 37–40). The aluminium frame lets you set the 80A wheels flat or as a rocker, the bearings are Rollerblade SG7, and a brake is included that can be removed.

Who it’s for

  • Your child goes to slalom or freestyle classes and needs skates on which a rocker can be set up.
  • You want a hard boot for the city, a skatepark and a pump track that grows with the foot.
  • You care about repairable skates: the cuff, frame, liner, buckles and sliders can be replaced.

When to choose something else

  • Your child skates recreationally and won't need a rocker — an ordinary Rollerblade Apex with the same type of hard, adjustable boot is enough.

Key features

Flat / rocker frame
The middle seats of the frame set the wheels 1 mm lower, and the set includes wheels in two diameters. The larger ones in the middle give a rocker (the so-called banana) and tighter turns, the larger ones on the outside — a stable flat setup.
Expandable, ventilated shell
A hard composite boot holds the foot snugly and steadily, and the length adjustment lets you skate on one pair for several seasons.
Premium liner with Shock Absorber
A removable, ventilated and reinforced inner boot; the absorber damps vibration and landings.
Buckle, 45° buckle and laces
A buckle on the cuff, a second one over the instep at 45° and classic lacing — the foot doesn't shift when you cross your legs.
Brake included
Ready to fit for the learning period; you can take it off when it starts to get in the way in slalom.
Replaceable parts
The cuff, wheels, frame, liner, buckles, Shock Absorber and sliders are replaceable, so a worn part doesn't end the skates' life.

Choosing your size

An Apex XC size is an EU range, e.g. EU 29–32, EU 33–36 or EU 37–40; you choose it on the product page. The shell expands within a range, so one pair covers four sizes.

Choose the range in which your child's foot falls in the lower half — that leaves room to grow and the skates last longer.

The manufacturer's description gives EU sizing for this model without the insole length in millimetres. If you know your child's foot length, write to us — we will confirm the range before purchase.

The frame length (195, 213 or 219 mm) and the wheel diameter depend on the range.

In the box

  • A pair of Rollerblade Apex XC skates
  • A brake for self-fitting

Care and servicing

Every few weeks of skating, rotate the wheels between positions and swap sides — they wear on the inner edge. After skating in the wet, take out the bearings and dry them the same day. After each rotation, check that the larger wheels have gone where you want them: in the middle (rocker) or on the outside (flat).

Questions and answers

How does the Apex XC differ from the ordinary Apex?

In the frame and wheels. In the XC the middle seats of the frame are 1 mm lower, and the set includes wheels in two diameters, so the skates can be set up as a rocker or flat. The ordinary Apex has four identical wheels.

How do I switch the skates from flat to rocker?

By swapping the wheels around. Larger wheels in the middle give a rocker, larger ones on the outside — flat. You do it with an axle wrench, just as with ordinary wheel rotation.

Does the Apex XC have a brake?

Yes. The brake is included, ready to fit, and can be removed at any time.

How many sizes does one pair cover?

Four. You choose the range (e.g. EU 29–32 or EU 37–40) on the product page, and the shell expands within it.
