In brief

The black FR Skates J Club are freeskate skates for young skaters, inspired by the FRX model. They have a hard composite shell, a 231 mm aluminium X2R frame with adjustable rockering, 76 mm / 85A Street Kings wheels and FR Twincam MW7 bearings. The size is adjusted with Orthomove 3in1 insoles, within a range of up to two sizes. You choose the insole length range on the product page.

Who it’s for

  • A young skater wants to start freeskate, slalom or urban skating on gear built like adult skates.
  • You are looking for a frame on which you can set a rocker for slalom and then go back to a flat setup.
  • The foot is still growing — you change the fit with insoles, without buying a new pair.

When to choose something else

  • You are looking for skates for a small child — smaller sizes are in the Rollerblade Apex.
  • You need a brake while learning — the manufacturer's description does not list one in the set, so ask us before buying.

Key features

Hard composite shell
It holds the ankle and withstands falls. The slider on the side of the boot is replaceable, so a scuffed guard doesn't mean replacing the shell.
Orthomove 3in1 liner
A removable inner boot with insoles — by changing them you adjust the size by up to two numbers.
X2R frame with adjustable rockering
The wheels can be set at one level (flat) or at different levels (rocker), which makes tight turns in slalom easier.
Street Kings 76 mm / 85A wheels
The round profile makes it easier to go from edge to edge; 85A grips well on asphalt and wears slowly.
Buckle, 45° velcro strap and laces
Three fastening points; the velcro strap over the instep holds the heel when you change direction.

Choosing your size

You choose the insole length range, e.g. 260–270 mm (EU 40–42), on the product page. The size is adjusted with Orthomove 3in1 insoles inserted into the inner boot — according to the manufacturer within a range of up to two sizes.

Measure the foot in millimetres and use the longer one. For a growing foot it is best if the result falls in the lower half of the range — that leaves room to grow and the skates last longer.

A hard shell doesn't break in like a soft boot. If the foot is wide or falls at the edge of the range, write to us before buying or try the skates on in the shop.

Measure your foot in millimetres (heel against the wall, to the tip of your longest toe) and choose an insole equal to that length or 2–5 mm longer. Full measuring guide

Care and servicing

Every few weeks of skating, rotate the wheels between positions and swap sides — they wear on the inner edge. After skating in the wet, take out the bearings and dry them the same day. With the rocker setup the wheels wear unevenly, so rotate them more often.

Questions and answers

How does size adjustment work in the J Club?

With Orthomove 3in1 insoles. They are placed in the inner boot and in this way adjust the size within a range of up to two numbers; the shell doesn't slide apart.

Why do I see “to order” next to a size?

We bring in some FR Skates sizes from the manufacturer's warehouse. Shipping then takes 3–5 working days instead of 24 hours; the information is shown next to each size.

What does adjustable rockering give?

Manoeuvrability. In the rocker setup the middle wheels are lower than the outer ones and the skate turns tighter, which helps in slalom. In the flat setup all the wheels touch the ground and the skate is more stable.

Does the J Club have a brake?

The manufacturer's description does not list a brake in the set. If you want to skate with a brake, write to us before buying — we will check what can be fitted to the X2R frame.

Are these skates only for children?

No. The sizes of these skates cover a teenager's foot (e.g. 260–270 mm, i.e. EU 40–42), and the construction — hard shell, aluminium frame with 165 mm mounting — is modelled on the adult FRX.
