In brief

The Rollerblade Maxxum Edge 125 3WD in grey/yellow are skates for advanced skaters, combining features of freeskate and fitness gear. A stiff, ventilated shell supports the ankle joint, and the long 295 mm aluminium frame carries three Hydrogen 125 mm / 85A wheels made in the USA. Add to that Twincam ILQ-9 Classic Plus bearings and a micro buckle and 45° buckle fastening.

Who it’s for

  • You skate fast and far, in the city and in training, and want wheels that hold their speed for a long time.
  • You ski and train on skates in the off-season — this model is popular in the Rollerblade Skate to Ski programme.
  • You have experience on skates and need precise control at high speed.

When to choose something else

  • You are just starting out — big wheels and high speed require braking you have already mastered; see fitness skates.
  • You are looking for manoeuvrable skates for slalom between cones — see slalom skates.

Key features

Stiff, moulded ventilated shell
It stabilises the ankle joint at high speed, and ventilation carries heat away during long training sessions.
3WD 295 mm frame
A long aluminium frame for three large wheels gives a stable line, especially at high speed.
Hydrogen 125 mm / 85A wheels
Polyurethane made in the USA. The large diameter holds speed longer and rolls more easily over unevenness, and 85A is an all-round hardness for asphalt.
Twincam ILQ-9 Classic Plus bearings
Low rolling resistance means smooth skating and less effort on every kilometre.
Premium liner with Active Airflow and a heel absorber
The Active Airflow insole improves breathability, and the absorber dampens vibration from the surface.
Micro buckle and 45° buckle
Two fastening points hold the foot firmly, so it does not shift in the boot during a strong push-off.

Care and servicing

Three wheels wear unevenly — every few dozen hours of skating swap them around and rotate them to the other side. After skating in the rain, dry the skates, and clean the bearings or take them to service.

Questions and answers

Are 3 × 125 mm skates suitable for a beginner?

They are not a good choice to start with. Big wheels pick up speed quickly, and the long frame requires some turning and braking technique — for learning, fitness skates on smaller wheels will be better.

Are they suitable for ski training?

Yes. The Maxxum Edge 125 3WD is popular in the Rollerblade Skate to Ski programme as a training tool for athletes in the off-season.

Are they suitable for city skating?

Yes. The 125 mm wheels roll easily over unevenness and cracks in the asphalt, and the stiff boot gives control when skating fast. For tight manoeuvres between obstacles they are less manoeuvrable than skates on smaller wheels.

What should I do if the size does not fit?

You have 14 days to withdraw from the contract (return), and the buyer covers the return shipping. Exchanging a size means a return and a new order.
