In brief

The purple FR Skates FR2 80 are skates for freeskate and slalom with an Open Shell hard shell and a 243 mm aluminium R2 frame that is switched from a flat layout to a rocker without changing wheels. They have Downtown 80 mm / 85A wheels and FR Twincam MW7 bearings. The cuff has 16 positions, and plates with seven holes take frames with 165 mm mounting.

Who it’s for

  • You already skate confidently and want to move into advanced freeskate or slalom without spending on the FR1.
  • You want to try skating on a rocker but also have a flat layout for the city — here you change it with a wrench.
  • Your ankles collapse inwards or outwards and you need cuff adjustment.

When to choose something else

Key features

R2 Rockerable frame 243 mm
You turn the bolts of the outer axles by 180° and the flat layout becomes a rocker (“banana”) — without buying smaller wheels.
Open Shell
A hard shell with a cut-out instep that reduces pressure on the top of the foot. The side sliders are replaceable.
Cuff in 16 positions (Cuff Buttons)
Eccentric washers move the cuff vertically and horizontally, which helps with ankles that roll inwards.
Plates with 7 holes, 165 mm mounting
Inset aluminium plates give 14 frame settings and take most three- and four-wheel frames.
Downtown 80 mm / 85A wheels
The round profile makes slides and landings after jumps easier.
FR liner with a heel shock absorber
An anatomical, removable inner boot, laced separately in the upper part.

Choosing your size

The FR2 comes in single sizes, described by insole length in millimetres. The FR Skates chart assigns, for example, an insole of 23.0 cm to EU 36, and 23.5 cm to EU 37.

Measure your foot standing, from the heel to the end of the longest toe, and choose an insole equal to that length or minimally longer. The shell doesn't stretch; only the liner settles in over time.

We bring in some sizes to order from the manufacturer's warehouse — shipping then takes 3–5 working days.

Care and servicing

After switching between flat and rocker, check that all the axles are tightened. The MW7 bearings can be taken apart, so after skating in the wet they can be cleaned and lubricated.

Questions and answers

How does the FR2 differ from the FR1?

In the hardware, not the shell. The FR2 has the same shell with 7-hole plates, but a different top buckle, wheels and bearings of a slightly different class, and an R2 Rockerable frame with a switchable wheel layout.

How do I set up the rocker in the R2 frame?

You turn the bolts of the outer axles by 180° — a wrench is enough. The layout changes from flat to rocker without changing to smaller wheels.

How does cuff adjustment work?

Eccentric Cuff Buttons washers let you set the cuff vertically and horizontally in 16 configurations. It is useful if your ankles roll inwards.

Do frames from other brands fit the FR2?

Yes. The plates have 7 threaded holes in the SSM 165 mm standard, so they fit most 3- and 4-wheel frames. The Endless 110 frame with 180 mm mounting also fits.
