Start with a diagnosis, because new bearings won’t help worn polyurethane, and new wheels won’t help seized bearings.
| Symptom | Most common cause | Where to look |
|---|---|---|
| Wheels worn down on one side, skates slide on turns | worn wheels, no rotation | inline skate wheels |
| Grinding, rust, drag after skating in the rain | dirty or rusty bearings | bearings |
| Wheel slows down after tightening the axle or wobbles sideways | wrong spacer length | spacers and axles |
You’ll find the maximum wheel diameter in the skate specifications. If your skates come from another shop, give us the model and year — we’ll check what fits. Two guides cover the rules: how to choose inline skate wheels and inline skate bearings: ABEC, ILQ, Swiss.
Any with a diameter no bigger than the maximum for your frame. You’ll find this value in the skate specifications, and often on the frame itself.
Not directly. ABEC describes manufacturing tolerance, and how a bearing rolls also depends on the steel, the lubricant and the seals.
Two per wheel: 16 for skates with eight wheels and 12 for three-wheel skates.
It depends on the set — check the product description. Bearings from old wheels can usually be transferred if they spin quietly and without resistance.
