Where to start

First decide where you’ll be skating, then choose the size. The type of skate determines how the boot holds your ankle and how the skate turns, and no adjustment will change that later.

Where you skateSkate typeWhat sets them apart
City, pavements, learning techniqueUrban and freeskatehard boot, short frame, 80 mm wheels
Smooth paths, longer routesFitnesssoft, breathable boot, bigger wheels
Kids whose feet are still growingKids’adjusts across 3–4 sizes

For learning and for the city we recommend a hard boot. A soft one feels comfortable at the fitting, but it gives the ankle less support, and that’s where balance starts. We compare both designs in the guide urban or fitness skates.

Size in millimetres

Inline skate size is chosen by foot length, not shoe size. Measure your longer foot and look for an insole equal to that measurement or no more than 5 mm longer. An EU size means a different length with every manufacturer, while millimetres are comparable across brands. How to measure: how to choose your inline skate size.

The most common mistakes

  • Skates a size bigger “for thick socks” — the foot slides inside the boot and rubs.
  • Choosing by the biggest wheels. You can swap wheels in fifteen minutes; you can’t swap the shell at all.
  • First skates without protective gear. When you’re learning, your wrists take the most knocks.

If you already know your foot length, the Skate finder shows only the models available in your size.

Frequently asked questions

Which inline skates should I start with?

Skates with a hard boot and 80 mm wheels. They hold the ankle well, so it’s easier to learn balance, braking and turning on them.

How do I choose my inline skate size?

By foot length in millimetres: the insole should equal your foot or be no more than 5 mm longer. Treat shoe size as a rough guide only.

Should inline skates be bigger than my shoes?

No. A skate should fit more snugly than a walking shoe, because extra room means rubbing and less control. The liner moulds to your foot after a few sessions and becomes slightly roomier.

Can I try skates on before buying?

Yes, in our shops in Poznań and Wrocław, no appointment needed. Each size on the website shows which shop has it in stock.

What if the size I ordered doesn’t fit?

You have 14 days to withdraw from the contract, and you return the item at your own cost. Order the right size as a new order or ask us to reserve it for you.
